Chronometer

COSC stands for “Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres,” which translates to “Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute.” It is a certification given to watches that have passed a series of tests for precision and accuracy, as established by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. To receive COSC certification, a watch must meet certain criteria for performance within certain tolerance levels over a period of 15 days and in various positions and temperatures. COSC certification is considered a high standard of accuracy for mechanical watches.
