Lip
The LIP watch brand was founded in 1867 in Besançon, France by Emmanuel Lipmann. Originally a watchmaking workshop, LIP soon began producing its own movements and watches. In the early 20th century, the brand began producing military-grade watches for the French army, and later expanded into producing watches for civilians as well.
In the 1970s, LIP faced financial difficulties and was acquired by the French conglomerate CFAO. Under CFAO’s ownership, LIP continued to produce watches, but also diversified into producing other consumer products such as calculators and electronic clocks.
In the 1990s, LIP was acquired by the French luxury goods group Folli Follie, which rebranded the company as Lip Group. Today, Lip Group continues to produce watches and other consumer products, and is known for its innovative and modern designs.
