Breitling SuperOcean Heritage 44 Chronograph 200M ref. A2337024/BB81 – Mesh, Full set, Serviced & Polished

The SuperOcean Heritage has been around for quite a while – since long before heritage reissues became the go-to option for uninspired watch manufacturers – and it could very well serve as a guide to rethinking vintage. The watch on offer here – the SuperOcean Heritage II Chronograph – follows the design language of its predecessor quite closely, but it gives it a much-needed modern revamp.
For one thing, the case size has been increased to a contemporary 44 mm, which makes the watch universally wearable while still preserving the flawless proportions of the original. Just like the 1957 Superocean, the Heritage II has a water-resistance rating of 200 meters. (It might be worth noting that the first Submariner – released only four years before the SuperOcean – had a WR rating of just 100 meters. The 1957 Seamaster, on the other hand, could barely reach 65 meters.)
The Heritage II features a palpable steel bezel with a ceramic inlay that complements the deep black dial. The latter showcases the original SuperOcean logo as well as the recognizable sword-and-arrow-shaped hands, and it incorporates a date display between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions. The classic applied stick indices pay homage to the original model, while the luminescent plots at the dial’s edge ensure optimal legibility. As far as the build is concerned, it’s unsurprisingly solid and well-finished. The Breitling SuperOcean Heritage is powered by the cal. B23 – Breitling’s version of the ETA-Valjoux cal. 7753.
The watch was just serviced and polished in 05.2021 and is in excellent condition. It comes in a complete set of boxes and papers and is outfitted with its original mesh strap.
